Do I also play Chess?
I do, I love Chess, I started playing it maybe when I was around 4. My grandfather who passed back in the mid 2000s I think, he loved this game and during summer I would go visit him at his house and this was the game he always wanted us to play and I ended learning to love it. He basically taught me how to use each chess piece one game at a time, he would use it to defeat me and then teach me what it was and how to use it, I didn’t even care if I lost or won to be honest, I just loved learning the game and spending time with my balding pap pap, oh do I miss that guy lol, anyway, but yes, I do like Chess and even though I don’t play it as much as I used to, it’s still my go to game whenever I am feeling depressed or down which I have been feeling for awhile now.
- I was glad the game worked perfectly on my trusty Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2(comes with a touchscreen). The gameplay is smooth and the graphics are good enough for “mobile” gaming. I think a lot of you will definitely get hooked on this game and the game is suited for all ages like I mentioned and yes, it’s true it does upgrade your thinking skills.
Do you want to play with me online? Drop me an email if you don’t mind but remember, I am NOT that good, I am a beginner if anything.

What are the rules of Chess for a beginner?
Chess can seem complicated at first, but the basic rules are quite straightforward. Here’s a breakdown for beginners:
The Setup:
- The chessboard is 8×8 squares with alternating light and dark squares.
- Each player has 16 pieces: 8 pawns, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops, 1 queen, and 1 king.
- Pieces are arranged in a specific way on the first two rows (ranks) of the board, with pawns in front and other pieces behind. The king and queen sit in the center, each on its own color square (white queen on white square, black queen on black square).
Moving the Pieces:
- Each turn, players can move one piece to a different square.
- Pieces move in unique ways:
-
- Pawns: Pawns can move one square forward (two squares on their first move). They capture diagonally one square forward, but cannot move diagonally unless capturing.
- Rooks: Rooks move any number of squares horizontally or vertically.
- Knights: Knights move in an “L” shape – two squares in one direction and then one square perpendicularly. They are the only pieces that can jump over other pieces (including their own).
- Bishops: Bishops move diagonally any number of squares, but only on squares of the same color (light squares or dark squares).
- Queen: The queen combines the movement of a rook and a bishop – she can move any number of squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
-
- King: The king can move one square in any direction (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal). Protecting the king is essential, as losing the king means losing the game.
-
You can scroll down below at the bottom of the post where you can learn more about the game, I just wanted to give you a basic overview of the rules. If you want a game that is a bit simpler and easier to learn, try Checkers.
